Daniel Etim Effiong is a popular Nigerian actor and film director. He was born in Jaji, which is in the Nigerian state of Kaduna. He has lived in Benin City, which is in the state of Edo, Lagos, and Abuja.

In his younger years, he went to St. Mary’s Private School on Lagos Island, Lagos. He then went to Government College in Ikorodu, Lagos, for his secondary education. After that, he went to the Federal University of Technology in Minna, Niger State, where he studied chemical engineering and got his first degree.

His dad was in the army of Nigeria. His father, former Lt. Col. Moses Effiong, was given an official presidential pardon by the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari. He and five others were sentenced to life in prison in 1986 after the supposedly failed Vatsa Coup during the Ibrahim Babangida regime on charges of treason concealment against the regime. They were released in 1993 but without an official proclamation and restoration of ranks and benefits.

After a short time as an engineer in the oil and gas industry, he decided to change careers. He went to AFDA Film School in South Africa to study filmmaking, writing and directing. He also took a filmmaking course at the University of Johannesburg.

After he quit his job in oil and gas, he started making videos for NdaniTV.

In 2017, he made a five-minute short film called “Prey.” It starred Tope Tedala and Odenike Odetola, and it was produced by his newlywed wife, Toyosi.

In 2019, Bland2Glam used him in her #thePowerof7 campaign, which was a way to honour her seven years in the fashion industry.

In the 2019 comedy movie Plan B, he starred with Kenyan actresses Sarah Hassan and Catherine Kamau Karanja as Dele Coker, a Nigerian CEO of a company based in Nairobi. This role earned him a nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy (Movie/TV Series) at the 7th AMVCA awards in 2020.

He was in several movies from the year 2020. In the movie “Fish Bone,” which was made by Editi Effiong and starred Shaffy Bello, Moshood Fattah, and him, he had the main role. In the short film “Storm,” he was in it with Ike Onyema and Attach “SirDee” Daniel. The film was made by Diane Russet and Michael “AMA Psalmist” Akinrogunde. Still in the year 2020, he directed a film called “Skin,” which was made by Beverly Naya. It was supposed to air on NETFLIX.

Since November 4, 2017, Effiong has been married to Toyosi Phillips. They met for the first time in August 2016 as they worked on a project. On January 7, 2019, the couple had their first child, a girl.
